For The Love Of Cheongsams.

Today is "Launch The Cheongsam Day" for me. I had tailored 8 of them while I was in Shanghai and was a tad concerned when I came back because some seemed a tad tighter than I remembered and others, had slits that were too high.

Nevertheless, I had no issues with my FAVOURITE piece (phew!). Sis and I agreed that we should do a glam clam night out when she returned to Singapore so tonight is the night! The idea is to dress up and go on a date with each other. Fine-dining, then drinks.

I have been wrecking my brains over the choice of restaurant and bar to go to. I wanted a place where there was good food, yet was deemed as a place to see and be seen. Not your great restaurant tucked away at some far corner of Singapore. I had thought White Rabbit would be suitable but the reviews I found online mostly pointed to the fact that it was an overpriced restaurant with not-so-great food. Sis came up with a few suggestions after surfing the web, and after careful scrutiny, I decided on Forlino's. Italian fine dining at One Fullerton. Kim had been there recently and said it was good, so anything good for Kim, I trust.

Forlino's also allows us to have after-dinner drinks at Post Bar at The Fullerton Hotel. I did not want to do a old-hamsup-men-infested Bala this night, cos the idea was to go a tad more upscale.

For this, I decided to launch my cheongsam collection (I sound like some fashion designer) with my favourite piece. It was a design I pinched off the web and got the tailors in Shanghai to create. I love this piece very much. Sorry for the poor quality of pictures. The lighting did not flatter. The close up lets you see the fabric detail which is part of the reason why its my favourite. The other reason is the cutaway top of the dress which gives it a modern feel. I had seen a similar top in one of the shops in Singapore previously and fell in love with it, except that it did not fit me that well.
